Meet Vaughn:
A lifelong resident of Trinity, Vaughn Goodwin has dedicated his life to hard work, public service, and community leadership. His journey began at the age of 12, working at Branum Hardware and Wrecker Service, a commitment he maintained through his graduation from West Morgan High School. At 19, he began his career with GM Saginaw in Athens, Alabama, later transferring to GM Springhill, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.
Following retirement, he returned to West Morgan High School as an aide for three years, volunteering his time to support athletic programs and mentor students. His public service career began in 1994 with an appointment to the Trinity Town Council, followed by re-election in 1996.
In 2000, he was elected mayor of Trinity—a role he continues to serve with dedication and integrity. In 2020, he was appointed Superintendent of Utilities for the Town of Trinity, further expanding his commitment to infrastructure and public welfare. Throughout his tenure, Vaughn Goodwin has served as Chairman of the Trinity Planning Commission and held leadership roles on regional boards. He is a past Board Chairman of both the Decatur Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the North Central Alabama Regional Council of Governments, where he continues to serve as a board member today.
Married to Deanna Childress Goodwin since 2000, Vaughn, is supported by a wife who has been a steadfast presence in both his life and the community. Deanna is a staple in Trinity—dedicated not only to her husband’s public service but also to the well-being of the town they both proudly call home. Together, they embody the values of commitment, service, and community spirit that define Trinity’s future.
